A strictly offensive group, the Shadow-Breed has amazing attack strength that rivals even the Earth-Breed. The Shadow group has many hideous Beasts and have nothing but death of the opponent and self-preservation on their minds. Like the Light breed, it can only be identified by its skin, normally a blood red or black colour.

An assassin-like creature, Shiar-ri resemble squirrels at first glance, but are much more sinister. Extremely agile, they can run 3 to 4 miles in under a minute, and can understand and speak in the human tongues. About 5' 7'', they have a red mane, that stretches down into a tail and midnight black fur. Some report seeing an 8'10'' Shiar-ri with an ultramarine mane, and surrounded by the smaller "Red-Manes" and being called "Sister"... Shiar-ri have 6 inch hooked claws which cannot retract. Add a build that gives it amazing combat and agility, and a Shiar-ri can kill even the most skilled of knights. One oddity about Shiar-ri, is that they look after humans who may travel with them and may even break the assassin stereo-type.

A 3 foot long insect, Echowarps have an amplifying cone around a bear-trap-like mouth. Since their eyes are on the cone, they have poor vision, being only able to see behind them. The mouth serves 2 puposes: to attack through bites, and to produce high pitched echo screams. These screams sound like a dying person and often lead people to their doom. Like most wasp species, there is a queen who controls the horde of 200 or more echowarps. This queen is often only a metre long, but 5 metre long queens have been recorded. All wasps have a black body with crimson cones and stripes of the latter color.

Etoile Noir Dragons are a medium sized stealth-style dragon, with a small tuft of fur on the neck.Their bodies are almost catlike, and their wings are only there for speed and looks. This black dragon has a French name mainly because the France shuttle crashed near a pack of these. The dragons are all black except for a pair of red lines that appear under the eyes, and for a odd star-like belly pattern. No one knows why they evolved a star pattern, but the sight of one of these is supposedly breathtaking. Often easy to tame, Dracomancers and Ninja often adopt these dragons for both combat and companionship purposes. Although they cannot breathe fire, Black star dragons fire orbs of sticky black ooze that swell and envelop the opponent in a ball of shadows. These orbs last for 4 hours and are toxic.

The black parasite is a concentrated mass of shadow energy and small fly-like creatures. These insects fly around their target and once in range, burrow into the skin to possess them. Although painful, the process doesn't leave markings. The only difference is that the target becomes a shadow creature. If a human was attacked by a swarm of these, they would turn into a homunculi, elves would change to drow, etc. If half-breeds however (ex. half dragon or half elf) are attacked, possession will not occur mainly because the energy is channeled to one side of their heritage. Markings will appear on the bodies though and one eye shall become orange with yellow flecks.
