The Story (Triliment Setting)

Kai turned to see some of the Effigies fall to the ground, daggers pierced their bodies. They were right behind him, and he didn't even notice. "Shit! How could I have not noticed them?!" His hands clenched into fists, so hard that a drop of blood seeped down his left hand; his nails had cut his palm. "Some other person had to save me. Why? Dammit!!!" Kai narrowed his eyes at the Effigies before him. "I'll kill these bastards, regardless if there are other people fighting as well." he concluded in his mind.

Kai took off a strip of cloth the scabbard of his sword, and he tied it tightly around the wound on his hand, eyes not leaving the effigies. He began to unsheathe his sword, taking a step toward the creature, and he was prepared to kill it.

Suddenly, very quickly, the Effigy turned it's glance, before it had gone into stage 2. It had a new prey. Kai turned to face the new target--A guy with copper hair, and surprisingly green eyes. He had the hood of his cloak up, bearing the Dracomancy crest, Kai raised an eyebrow--was this guy a mancer?

The Effigy advanced toward the guy, now transforming into some man.

"Barrelex? What are you doing here?" it asked kindly. "Come on, now. Don't you want to see your father?" questioned the Effigy. "I'm not one of them, it's alright." Barrelex held out his arms, and advanced to the monster. "FOOL!" Kai yelled angrily in his head. "FINALLY!" The Effigy pinned Barrelex, and he cried out in pain.

Almost immediately, a girl came out of nowhere and killed the creature. "Wha..." Kai stared in some awe of how the girl killed the effigies so effortlessly. He had never seen a girl kill something like that so easily. One of the effigies transformed into a man, and she smirked.

"You think a trick like that'll work against me? I can kill my father and feel nothing over it." she said, then killed it instantly. That's when it clicked--this was the girl who he accidentally bumped into earlier. "Damn...good thing she didn't spaz when I ran into her...she appears to be really skilled...I could've gotten hurt..." Kai sighed as he saw a third person walk in. "These creatures have attracted quite a bit of attention..." he murmured to himself. Deciding to give up what he had thought of earlier, he turned away, seeing as there was more than enough people here to take care of these creatures...

And that's when he heard a blood-curdling scream. He groaned and looked over his shoulder, then his eyebrow raised in amusement. The third girl had been skewered by an effigy in the form of a guy. "Boyfriend?" he questioned himself as he saw the man. He looked at the others around him. The elf-girl was at Barrelex's side; Barrelex looked unconscious; The other girl looked half dead.

"Man, am I really counted on that much?" He asked aloud to no one in particular, as he strode up to the guy-Effigy. "Yo." He began, then sliced it in half. "That's better," he noted as the body fell. Kai looked to the half-dead girl. He kneeled down, removed the claw from her body, then picked her up effortlessly in his arms. "Hey, you alive?" He asked, wanting to get this over and done with. Someone might have stolen his drink back in the bar... Kai frowned at the limp girl. "Hello...Wake up." Kai rolled his eyes, then adjusted his arm so he could check for a pulse and keep her from falling to the ground at the same time.

There was a pulse. "Well, it's good to know you're at least alive..." he murmured before turning to look at the elf-girl and Barrelex. He rolled his eyes then asked, "Hey, where can I go for this girl to get some help 'round here?"

[Barrelex]

Barrelex turned to his savior to get a glimpse of her face. He recogonized her as the one he passed earlier when he entered the inn.
"Can you help me stand up? i got a spell that can kill these things." he said quietly. He noticed her nod and felt himself into a comfortable position.As fast as he could manage, he pulled out the light scroll and opened it, reading aloud the contents and readying the bright light.
"Time to die you bastards!" yelled Barrelex, firing multiple rays of light. The thin rays hit the effigies in the dead center of their bodies. They then started to swirl and produce bursts of light, making the effigies scream in pain and then explode.
"Cover your eyes!" he screamed at the last minute, then fell into unconsciousness.

Lynn groaned and looked up at the guy who was holding her. She closed her eyes for a moment. Her lips moved but no sound came out. She tried again.
"Get...hands...off...m-me.." Her once soft and lethal voice was raspy and dead. She felt like an empty threat. She looked away. Yelling at herself in her mind. Diciplining herself for her weakness and emotion towards seeing her goddamned brother.

Then again, she was crying when she had to murder him. But it was the burden she carried. He had to just piss her off at that moment in time. 'Stupid baka...how could you be so weak..' She thought angerly. This thought directed at herself.

Lynn looked at Kai once again. "I-Im...fine.." Half her body was drained and a half dead werewolf still showing emotions towards others. Yes....real fine condition she was in. Lynn tried to get up and away from him. She groaned from the pain and collapsed back in his arms. She let out a mencing growl. Lynn wanted the humanly contact to stop now. Her grey eyes changed to amber for a half of second then she blinked, her white lids appeared as fast as the amber appeared then turned back to her grey ones.

She whispered to herself. "Thirteen...m-more days..." She shivered. Her little statement was not directed to anyone. It was a habit of her, you can say...She tried to get out of Kai's arms and managed to hit the floor with a soft thud. She got up on all floors shakily. She fell once again but on her back. Blood stained her clothes and the side of her face. She moaned as some blood oozed from the jaged gash on her shoulder. Lynn closed her eyes and fell unconcious...

Taylin rubs her eyes vigorously, the blast having partially blinded her. She glances at the spellcaster for a second and sighs. She knew who he was just by looking at him. She had seen him at the Academy on several jobs there. Most of the inhabitants didn't know she had been there and most likely wouldn't approve, but it was best to play it safe and not draw any more attention to herself. This would most likely turn out harder than planned since she had just taken out several of these odd creatures in a matter of seconds. With a soft groan she slides the dracomancer to the floor and takes a step back rubbing her shoulder slowly. It was never a good idea to try and hold up a person who was almost a foot and a half taller than you and weighed sevemty pounds more. Especially when you were designed for speed not strength. She sighs again and shakes her head. She turns towards the barabarian and clenches her fist behind her back. For the sake of the girl and the mage, she had to put up with the man. "The best place would be the nearest church. I'm not entirely positive where it is though since I've never been there." She turns back to the mage and hoists him up again. She starts to drag him towards the door. "It should be pretty close to here. I was told that it was only a few blocks down this street. So come on. Let's get this over with." She wasn't trying to be rude or anything, she just had problems with churches and clerics. They always made her feel overly sinful and evil.

Kai stared at the girl in his arms with slight annoyance, and he narrowed his eyes. "Look, I don't have to help you, but I'm nice enough to do so anyways. So stop your complaining." hissed Kai, his voice icy and cold, as usual. He heard her mutter, "I'm fine," but he ignored it, knowing she wasn't. He heard her then whisper something to herself, but he couldn't hear it. Suddenly, she began squirming and freed herself from his arms.

"Hey," he said through his teeth as she fell to the ground. "Idiot." he muttered as he picked her up again, but she was really limp now--either she was dead, or unconcious. He didn't quite care, then looked up to hear Barrelex warn everyone to cover their eyes.

"Huh?" Kai looked up at him, just as the white light exploded. "Ackk!" Kai leaned his head forward, into Lynn, using her to sheild his eyes, since his arms were preoccupied. After a few seconds, and after more screeching from the effigies, the light went away. kai looked up, but he couldn't see anything--his vision was altered due to the sudden burst of light in his eyes. "Woah..." Kai didn't move, since he didn't want to risk falling, and he waited for his vision to restore. Before the blurriness was gone, he heard the elf-girl begin to speak.

"The best place would be the nearest church. I'm not entirely positive where it is though since I've never been there." Kai could see again, and noticed the girl dragging Barrelex. "It should be pretty close to here. I was told that it was only a few blocks down this street. So come on. Let's get this over with." she finished.

Kai narrowed his eyes at the thought of having to go to a stupid church. "How annoying..." he thought, then proceeded to the elf-girl. He watched her drag Barrelex. If he wasn't dead now, then surely he would be after she's done with him.

Rolling his eyes, he suggested, "Look, obviously you're not strong enough to carry him. Take this girl here--she's pretty light. I'll carry Barrelex.." Kai crouched and layed the girl he was carrying beside the elf-girl, then picked up Barrelex. "This guy isn't all that heavy..." Kai looked back at the elf-person. "Uhh..which way is the hospital...?" He looked around, hoping for a sign...then shook his head, knowing that it was useless--even if he did see a sign, it's not like he would be able to read it...

Lynn was half unconscious. She heard everything that was going on but she wasn't quite asleep yet. Lynn tried to open her eyes but she only got a glance at...that damned guy who was holding her a second ago...was holding her again! She growled at him. With her meek attempts at trying to talk once again she muttered, "L-let.....g-go..." She snarled. She felt her energy draining pretty quickly.

'Just from talking? Goddamn it....It’s my fault anyway....I never...ate...in a few days. Not that kind of food...but an actual meal...fuck. I just can't fall asleep...' She thought desperately. Lynn brought a shaky arm to her wound. Warm blood washed over her hand. She winced as she put pressure on it. Trying to stop the bleeding a little bit more. Since some people didn’t care and trying to save her but not really, she might as well try to make everyone's life easier by doing this herself.

'A church? Fuck! I hate those places. They will instantly know what I am...' Lynn growled at the word 'church.' Lynn looked away from Kai. She put a little more pressure on her goddamned wound. She felt pain, lots of it, but the aftermath of the attack from that creature was like transforming at the full moon. She thought of her brother. 'Bastard. It’s your entire fault....saying you were the first werewolf. And killing you...were just...to torment me more....' She thought bitterly. 'This is not fair.'

Listened to the conversation's they were having. That church place. Then she heard 'hospital' She shot a glare at Kai. She let out a snarl and her eyes flashed amber once again. "N-no...hospi- n-not...t-there..." She gasped out. She hated hospitals with a passion. They were just so....vulnerable...She might not be able to control herself. It always stank of blood. And she could smell weeks old blood that was cleaned up and thrown out. She could smell death looming over certain patients. It set her off entirely.

[Barrelex]

*Two days after the effigy attack* Barrelex opened his eyes slightly and noticed a faint smell of spine daisy ((a flower on Crios that is pleasant to smell, but dangerous if touched)). He felt as though he was in a soft bed surrounded by girls throwing petals at him. He opened his eyes fully sat up and looked around to see that he was in the infirmary of the local church. To his left was the girl who beat up the gang in the inn. He looked to the right and noticed a familiar face.He knew that the one that healed him was Neo Mallera.
"Long time, huh Mallera? I'll bet that you weren't expecting me here in this condition."said Barrelex, keeping in mind that it was forbidden to swear in the churches.
"Yep, and if i was, i wouldn't expect a guy like you to fight with such odd company. A barbarian, 2 rouges and you. What an odd damn team."
Barrelex looked at him surprisingly.
"Oh for.." Neo made a quick prayer to forgive himself."So of all creatures, you had to fight effigies, huh? And before you give me an odd look, those are easy to identify from the skewer markings. It almost got your heart! What were you thinking then???"
Barrelex explained his side of the story to his friend.
"Ah, okay I see your reasoning. Oh yeah once your friend over there wakes up, the High Priest wants to see you all. Just a reminder for you" said Mallera, bowing as he said it and then turned and left.

Lynn moaned in the soft bed of the church. Her eyes fluttered opened and she was hit by a blinding white light. She screamed and toppled out of bed. She backed into a corner. Confused like a lost dog. She growled and stared vigoriously around. Lynn looked down, seeing only gauze wrapped around her chest. She screamed again and ripped the white curtain beside from its bar thingie. She quickly wrapped it around her. Lynn began to panic.

"WHAT DAY IS IT!? WHAT IS THE FUCKING DATE?!" Lynn obviously didnt know about the swearing rule. She hid in her little corner. Scared, confused and hurting like mad. She began to hyperventilate. She quickly calmed down though. She sat there, only wrapped in a slik curtain, having no idea where her original clothings are.

Lynn kind of forgot what happened...after the effigy attack. First she knew that someone said they were going to a hospital. Then....She clutched at her stomach. She hasent eaten for at least three days. She was surprised she hasnt died yet.
'I havent....eaten....' She thought. Lynn winced as she leaned over in pain. It hurt so much, her wounds and her little starvation problem.

She whimpered but sucked it up. She will eat as soon as she gets some answers. Lynn shakily stood and saw Barrelx. She glowered at him. Giving him one of her most evillest glares.
"Where the hell am I?" She muttered darkly. Lynn winced again as hunger bit at her stomach. She ignored it. Wanting the answers.
"How long has it been since the attack of those....things?" She muttered again. Continuing her glare.

Hotaru woke up to find herself in a strange position. Evidently dur ing the night she had shifted from sitting on the on a branch with her back against the tree trunk to laying with her stomach on the branch and an arm and a leg dangling off the sides. Hotaru fluttered open her tired eyes to find herself staring at what appeared to be the forest floor 50 feet below her. She started and cried out as she slipped from the branch successfully hitting every other branch between her and the ground before landing on her back in the tall grass. Feeling horribley sore all over she screamed as loud as her bruised lungs would allow her.

"STUIPID FUCKING TREE BURN IN HELL" Hotaru jumped to her feet and set the poor innocent tree on fire, feeling a sense of satisfaction spread through her. That was before she saw her ninja bag dangling from a branch inches away from the flames. Hotaru's eyes widened and feeling another surge of rage coming on she through a kunai and the bag severing the strap. She hurried to catch the bag and turned away from the burning tree, sitting herself on the ground she searched through her bag to take inventory on the food she had left.

"some bread, an apple, some dried meat and hardly any water" Hotaru cursed the world for the second time that day and threw the water gourd at the remains of what had been a tree five minutes ago. She sat down to think about her current situation. She hadn't eaten in two and a half days, she had almost no food and water and and almost no money and she was about 2 days journey from Triliment City.

'Maybe I'll be lucky and find some rich bastard to mugg' she thought to herself as she bit into the apple. Hotaru was about to stand up as she heard a twig snap, She hurried behind a tree and watched a child who appeared to be around eight hurry through the trees, carrying what appeared to be a basket. Her blood-thirsty nature made her want to kill the child and take whatever he happened to have on him but this kid was to young to murder. Her onyx coloured hair streamed out behind her as she appeared behind the kid, knocking him unconscious with a quick chop to his neck. Hotaru grabbed his basket and searched it, finding enough food to last her for a few days, she then moved on to searching the child for money. She found a pouch full of coins and cheered.

" YES your a unlucky brat arn't you?" she said to the unconscious boy "well I suppose this was a good find for me." Hotaru was about to head off for Triliment when her mood switched again and she found herself feeling only slightly guilty for the boy who looked quite poor.

'He was probabley getting food for his family" she thought to herself. She bent down and gave back to him a little bit of food and money. Hotaru set off for Triliment, now content that she wouldn't be plagued by guilt for leaving the brat with nothing. She started singing to herself as she finished off her apple.[/color]

Kai stared out to the now awake girl, wrapped in a sheet ripped from the bed curtains. "Yippee, another one is awake. Now I have to go find out what that idiot Priest wants. Dammit." thought Kai, as he stood straight from leaning against the wall. He sighed to control himself as he approached the angry girl, but kept his distance, considering her eyes screamed blood-lust.

"Calm down. Seriously. The date's not important, but you were out cold for two days. Also, in case you haven't noticed, your in a church." Kai walked around the bed over to a small night table, and picked up an small pile of neatly folded clothing. He turned on his heel and returned to the girl, and threw the clothes in front of her; they landed perfectly, not becoming messy from the impact to the cold floor.

"You're clothes are here, idiot. The blood had to be washed off, as well and the holes sewn up. You're lucky I'm really good at sewing; it barely looks like there was a hole to begin with." Kai sighed and watched her cling to her stomach like it was about to tear apart. "Take it easy. The stitches couldn't of hurt THAT much...Besides...They're already healed...Stupid fucking Drama Queen..." Kai thought to himself as he walked to the wall, and slumped against it. "Why the hell does the retard Priest want to talk to me too? I just got here a couple days ago... the only people who know me are...well...the people in this room. and apparently this so-called High Priest. Dammit." Kai looked around at the other people around him; That "Neo" guy, Barrelex; the Drama Queen, the elf-girl. "Hmm...I haven't given out my name to anyone, so I'm good there. I should just ditch. No one should be able to find me anyways. They only know what I look like. Not a problem." He paused. And if anyone does know my name, then they're creepy stalkers who need to get a life." he noted.

Kai started walking slowly to a window, past the Drama queen's bed, figuring that if he was far enough, then he wouldn't be noticed. He slowly slid open a window, that wore a stained glass pattern. Without looking out of the window, Kai jumped out. But he didn't expect to fall...

"AAhhhhh!!!" He yelled as he fell down the side of the church. He thought he was on ground level, not a few stories high. "Ack! Shit!" Kai whipped out his sword, and stabbed it against the side of the church, but it wouldn't go through the stone walls. "God Dammit!" he cursed, as a large stone protruding from the church knocked his sword from his grasp. He turned to see how much further he was from the ground, and he had about two stories. But there was a thing sticking out of a church. Was it a statue? Kai couldn't tell from above. But he held out his arms anyway, readying himself to grab onto it...

He caught hold! For about a second. His hand slipped off the smooth whatever (Maybe it was marble...?), and he frantically tried to grab it again, only to slice a cut across his hand "Fuck!" he yelled, as he missed his chance, and fell to the ground.

"Augh!!" he groaned as he landed on the ground. "Dammit...What the..!" Kai's eyes widened as he saw his sword coming down as high speed, sharp point down. He said nothing as it landed an inch to the left of his face. "Woah," he said finally. Kai stood up, his back aching, and lifted his sword from the ground (it was about 2 feet in ), and sheathed it.

"Well, that wasn't so bad!"

Taylin, clothed in a pair of leather pants and a sleeveless blue shirt, pokes her head into the infirmary room just in time to see the barbarian plummet out the window. She had heard raised voices and decided it might be a good idea to see what was up. She shakes her head slowly and ambles past the crazed looking girl to the window. She glances down at the prone warrior and almost bursts into laughter. Leave it to a barbarian to jump out of a window this high off the ground. She leans out and shouts down to the man as he sheathes his sword. "I wouldn't go to far if I were you! The High-Priest wants to speak with us and if you don't go you'll probably get on the churches bad side!" Chuckling softly she turns back to the still bed ridden mage and the girl. She tilts her head towards the girl and studies her thoughtfully. "I was expecting you to wake up a while ago. I always thought that your kind had more stamina than that. Especially more than the mage here." She turns her attention back to the mage. "And I expected more from you, Leo Barrelex. Your reputation gives you more brains than to fall for such a simple trick." She turns to the door and steps into the hall. She needed to check on her normal shirt. It had been torn somewhere along the line and she needed to see if it was fixed yet. She was getting sick of walking around in her undershirt. She rubs the back of her left hand as she walks. So far she had prevented anyone from seeing the butterfly tattooed there. If they did they would almost automatically recognize who and what she was. Half way down the hall she stops and turns back to the infirmary. She sticks her head in again. "And, Barrelex, be sure to avert your eyes while the young lady is dressing. I also know your other reputation." She eyes him warily and steps back out into the hall.

[Barrelex]

Barrelex was laughing when the rogue had adressed him.
"And I expected more from you, Leo Barrelex. Your reputation gives you more brains than to fall for such a simple trick." He could only help but look away from her in embarassment. Then he heard words that stabbed him in the chest: "And, Barrelex, be sure to avert your eyes while the young lady is dressing. I also know your other reputation." He saw her walk out and then got out of the bed and put on his robe and headed for the corridor. Touching where the effigy had skewered him, but noticed it was repaired.
"Probably a priest..."he muttered to himself. He started to head down the hallway and went to the main foyer. He looked through a window and saw a blue half-dragon soar into view and take a smooth right turn around the church. Although it was probably a courier, he had never actually seen a half-dragon in flight before. He reluctantly looked away, and continued to the High Priest's chambers, hoping to find that rogue he saw before, and also to see that idiotic barbarian who acted like he was in Triliment for the first time. He had a lot of questions to ask the Priest....

"I always thought that your kind had more stamina than that." Lynn heard her say. She growled her at her way out.
Then she snapped at Kai before he stupidily jumped out the window, "The date is fu- grr... improtant to me!" She was about to swear again but stopped herself. Not wanting to draw more attentiont herself then she already did. She glared at Barrelex again, then muttered as she picked up her clothes, still holding the curtain, and walked away, trying to find a bathroom.

'Stupid people. I dont want to talk to some fucking priest. And how the fuck does that girl know? Damn it. Its not my fault. Im hungry, tired, half killed, tricked and dragged to some half ass church were I dont belong. No fuck i couldnt get up. God damn it. Out for two days?! Lets see...that would mean.... nine, eight, or seven more days till the god damned full moon then maybe if I have half a mind then I can kill the bastards.' Lynn ranted to herself as she began to dress. But she smirked to herself at the idiot who jumped out of a window. "Serves him right." She muttered darkly.

Once Lynn was dressed. She obviously found a bathroom. She looked around. Taking full glance at this palace thing.
"Man, humans are devoted to these gods..." She whispered. Lynn noticed a large cabinet thing. She walked over, cautious and curious. She opened the big doors and looked inside. There were shelves upon shelves of stuff for the priests and everything. She noticed a few robe dress things. Pure white and looked as if they could fit her. She grabbed one and laid it out on the floor. She smirked as she pulled out a kunai from her thigh holster, She held it to the soft fabric and cut throught it simply. She pulled the kunai down and ripped it to the bottom, she then cut from the other side then across between the two rips. The pulled the fabric away and it fluttered somewhere behind her.

Lynn put her new dress thing on, the rest of the cloth she didnt cut was pulled behind her, like a half skirt. She smirked at her new clothing. The white silk thing was almost dragging along the floor but it didnt matter. Lynn walked out, leaving the patch of cloth on the floor. Lynn walked aut and began to wander around. Killing time and not really wanting to see the Priest guy.

Lynn tried to sniff out some food but couldnt really catch a scent. She growled as some guy in white glanced at her and frowned. She wasnt, wait refrain that NEVER went to churches. She usually healed herself. She hated being physical contact with anybody. If someone healed her, then they probably saw the scars all over. From fights with other animals or people. She glared at the floor at the thought of someone touching her. She muttered something under her breath. Her white dress thing fluttered behind her as she walked.

[Half-Dragon]

"Damn, I havent been sent to a church in while" said Dragogale to himself as he desended slowly. The thought of being in a church gave him a very uneasy feeling but he knew that he had to deliver the message. Dragogale slowly walked up to the door of the church and pushed it open. He saw some people around and someone talking to what looked like a priest. " The guy in the robe is probably the priest. Guess im supposed to give him the message if he is the priest." Dragogale muttered to himself.

Hotaru settled down for a small break, she was just a couple hours out of Triliment City now and she was in a good mood after covering so much ground in so little time. She sat down with her back against a tree, this time on the ground she hadn't quite forgotten about the tree incident quite yet.

Hotaru felt herself growing increasingly drowsy in the hot midday sun and it was taking all of her will power not to curl up right there in the dirt and take a nap. "God dammit why am I so damn tired?' she thought to herself, rubbing her eyes. Of course this wasn't unusual Hotaru slept much like a cat does, which is pretty much all the time.

A twig snapped a few feet to her left and Hotaru leaped to her feet, grabbing a lethal looking weapon off of her back. It was an extremely thick rope with a large knot on the end with many broken kunai stuck in it. She drew herself into a fighting stance and readied her weapon, spinning the end in a circle and holding the slack in her other hand. Out of the underbrush stumbled a sickly half dead kitten. Hotaru blinked and placed down her rope, kneeling next to the poor animal.

"Hey you okay?" she asked the cat, not really expecting an answer. The kitten glared at her as if to say ' do I look okay to you!' Hotaru reached for cat and got scratched for her efforts.
Her eye twitched and she had one of her oh so frequent mood swings. "WELL FUCK YOU I WAS ONLY TRYING TO HELP!" She growled at the innocent kitten and stalked away, only to return a second later with a scrap of dried meat in her hand.

"your lucky your a cat, I wouldn't help you if you were human" Hotaru huffed at the hungry feline. The cat tore at the meat and finished it as quick as was biologically possible. "Well, I have to leave now so try not to starve yourself anymore." she said to the kitten who probably had absolutely no idea what she was saying. Hotaru turned and walked away leaving the starving creature to fend for itself. She ran through the forest trying to get to Triliment before sundown, even though she was used to sleeping in the woods she was looking forward to sleeping in an actual bed again. 'almost there' thought Hotaru getting a little sick of the endless greenery. Suddenly without warning she tripped over a root falling flat on her face, she lay there for only a second before throwing a complete tantrum kicking and screaming and shouting obscenities to the sky.
