The Story (Ashbourne Mountains Setting)

[Barrelex]

The unforgiving mountain range known as the Ashbourne Mountains is the only way to Nuchu. Echowarp wasps, Assault Beetles and goblins live here in numerous numbers, making it dangerous to travel alone. At the center of these large mountains and cliffs, is Silvershine, the largest mountain on Crios's southern continent.

"What the--?" Denkou didn't even have time to answer Cane, since a light surrounded him. "What the hell's going on?!" He looked up and saw cane surrounded by the same peculiar light. "Cane!" He took a step forward, and then disappeared with a bright, but not a blinding light. Denkou reappeared with Cane outside the Church's gate. There were some other people [Okay, so maybe some weren't very human at all..."] around. A guy with copper hair began speaking about what was going on. Denkou noticed he had a sword and some other object wrapped in a cloth in his arms. "What's.....going on......? Why am I here....?" he muttered, looking around.

"I was just informed by Neo that one of the Chaotic Three has infiltrated the Church. We're to immediately go to the Dracomancy's weapon chamber and grab what we need, then head off to the mountains. Lynn, Kai, I'll get you two to be scouts. I'll have someone pick up equipment for you two. Alright, let's go." said the guy with copper hair. Denkou raised an eyebrow at the information he had just received. "One of the Chaotic Three is here? In the Church?!" Denkou's head whipped over to face the Church. "Shit! If it's who I think it is, and he finds out I haven't killed Cane...Then I'm dead..." Denkou shifted so that he was not in direct view of the Church. Then he looked at Cane. He shifted again, so Cane wasn't in the Church's view. "It's more important that they don't see her, not me..." Denkou looked around. "Alright.." He began to walk to the Academy. Someone had to start the 'flow'...

ooc// Okay, I had permission by Barrelex to type what he said to them. So don't get angry and say I power-played. He was right beside me the whole time.......

Kai sat down and looked at Lynn. He appreciated that she was nice enough to let him have some food. Though, he suddenly felt a shortage of dominance. He was definitely not the Alpha of the duo. Then before he could take a bite, a light surrounded him and Lynn. Kai snarled, and then disappeared.

He suddenly felt more self-control as he appeared in a small group of the people he had seen before. [Along with Neo's magic, he infused some to give Lynn and Kai some self-control, so they aren't trying to massacre everyone in their path. Once again, I am not power playing for Neo, who is in a way Barrelex's charrie. I was informed that they have calmed down......] "What's going on?" he muttered to Lynn, who had appeared beside him. Then Barrelex’s started talking. At the end of his speech, Kai nodded. "So it looks like we're on Guard duty. Fair enough. If we're lucky, some idiot might stumble past and we can have a snack..." he said jokingly, then turned to head off to the Dracomancy Academy.

"Yesssss....Fooooddd.....I have found the foooodddd....." Yuki smirked and laid down beside the pile of delicious, juicy meat. "Allllllll miiiinnnneee...." Yuki leaned forward and closed her eyes. Her muzzle opened. She was no more then a second from sinking her white fangs into the juicy meat, when flash, she ended up clamping down on nothing. "Erm...Okay..." Yuki looked up and saw that same guy from earlier. The one who she had accidentally slipped into his bed. Thankfully, while he was out of it. "Humph." She transformed smoothly into human, with her clothes already on. She looked about the small crowd. "Okay, someone tell--" She was cut off by the copper haired guy speaking. He explained what she was about to ask. "Okay, hold up. Exactly how did I get dragged into this?!" she demanded, with her hands on her hips.

Saige was about to fall asleep when a strange light surrounded her. " What on earth..." she thought then appeared in front of the crowd. She stayed quiet and listened to what the copper-haired guy was saying. " I see. I've heard of those people." she thought. She looked around and saw that Raven wasn't there. She muttered a calling spell towards Raven to tell her that it was time to leave.

She sat down and finally Axel woke up. " Axel, it looks like its time to go soon" she murmured. Axel meowed at her then looked at her oddly. " What?" she asked. " What are you hiding from me? Your mind is guarded." he said. Saige shrugged her shoulders then said, " Nothing, I just like having my privacy sometimes."

Raven woke up as the message came to her. " Wake up Lexis, its time to go." she called out. She retrieved her belongings that was in the corner of the lair. She sheathed her sword then strapped it to her side. She had everything she needed. She looked at Lexis who was waiting for her at the lair entrance. She got on Lexis's back.

" Lets roll" Lexis said and off they went. Arriving beside Saige silently. " Hey Saige," she said. Saige turned and smiled at her. " So what's up?" she asked. Saige explained what the copper haired guy said to her.

" I've... um... heard of those guys..." she said. She looked around and spotted Cane and Denkou holding hands. She smiled. " I'll be damned." she thought. She sighed tiredly then leaned into Lexis's huge furry neck and closed her eyes.

" Adrian its time to go! Everyone is at the edge of the building." the priest said. Adrian got up and headed towards the edge of the building and saw a gathering of people there. HE walked towards Saige and asked her what had happened that he didn't hear.

Saige told him everything she had heard from Barrelex. Adrian thanked her and decided to stick around her and this other girl that was on a big humongous dog thing. It reached up to his chest and was black, furry and huge.

Lynn growled as she appeared around a big group of people. A half bloody bone in her mouth. She glared at Barrelex then looked at Kai. She nodded and dropped the bone to the ground.
"Guard duty? Alright. So this questy thing has started?" She asked looking at all of them warningly for no apparent reason. Shes just the type to do so. She sat down and her white tail curled around her. Lynn was trying to calm most of herself down. Being interupted in a pleaseingly good meal was not cool.

After a moment she got up again and started forward. Walking past Denkou easily. "Come on Kai." She snarled behind her. Probably to most people it was a bunch of snarls, growls and howling. Lynn looked at Denkou and Cane.

Cane looked down at Lynn at her sudden outburst. "Calm down there girl. God, give everyone a headache." She muttered quietly. Obviously understanding Lynn and Kai easily. Cane stood close to Denkou, thinking of what happened before. She looked at him shyly and grabbed his hand in hers quickly before she lost the stupidity impulse. Cane looked away blushing. But in her mind she was laughing victoriously. Lynn rolled her eyes at that and hurried forward.

She sniffed the air, no one was around. Except her favorite prey hiding in a pile of dead leaves. She smirked and lowered herself to the ground and sped towards it. Blood masked muzzle diving headfirst into the leaves. She barked and whined as she came out with a stuggling little brown squirrel in her jaws. It bit at her muzzle and she crunched down, crushing its small rib cage. It was half dead in her jaws.

Lynn smirked and carried it back to the pathway. Happily eating the small body. Though wishing she finished the one at the church.

Cane watched Lynn and her eye twitched when she was eating a small squirrel in her jaws. Nothing cawed above her and began to circle around Cane and Denkou a few times before flying in the shadows of the trees. Cane glared at Nothing before slightly noticing Denkou in her range of vision. She blushed and looked away once again.

Hotaru was sitting in the bar with Hizoku, bored out of her mind. The same bartender that bothered Cane and Nothing was still on his shift and was highly annoyed from the looks of it. Hotaru smirked wanting to bother him further for her own enjoyment.
"How ya doing?" She asked poking him in the arm easily.
"Tired. Annoyed." He muttered
"Why so?"
"Because.."
"..... Because is bothering you?"
"Huh?"
"What did you say?"
"Umm what?"
"Whats what?"
"Whats that?"
"Thats what?"
"What the hell are you talking about?"
"Im talking about that and what." She answered trying her best not to laugh at the frustrated bartender. He looked at her and she put on an innocent smile. After about a moment of silence. She looked at Hizoku and shouted, "Im bored! Lets go somewhere else." She said grabbing Hizoku's arm and leaving the bar. The bartender paused. Confused out of his mind then realized, "Hey!!! You have to pay for that drink!" Hotaru laughed evilly as the door swung closed behind her.

Chiri rocked back and forth on a rock she found well to be precise... a gravestone. And whomever was walking by (meaning the large group of people who was going on the quest) would see her and the gravestone. She was bored and it was late and she heard a howl from somewhere. Chiri sighed and slid down behind the stone. Hearing the group of people coming closer. She giggled quietly and pulled a bag out of a near by bush.

She opened it. It was a nice bleached white skeleton held together with many little hinges and other things to make it move. Chiri giggled again. Everything was nicely set up. She found the right thread, pulled and she heard the skeleton stand and rattle noisely.

Then... she threw her voice, moving the jaw and hands almost expertly. The moon was in the right place and the threads where practially invisable.
"Beware! The demon of this place lurks near and I would not go any furtherrrrr...." She said in her most expertly 'scary' voice. Trying her hardest not to burst out laughing.
“...And with this, I banish thee to the darkest depths of hell!” She cried, making her puppet thrust a small pebble onto the path. Pointing at which ever group person was in the view of the skeleton's white finger.
“And may you never darken my pathway again, foul demon!!!”

Taylin, standing a few feet away from the others shakes her head slowly and pulls her cloak tighter around her. She already had the basic idea as to what was going on, but alot of this information was new. Her mission hadn't changed though, she would complete her contract and collect her pay as soon as this bloody quest was over. At least that was the plan in her mind. She glances at their leader and sighs. This could be quite an interesting trip. She tilts her head to the side slightly and continues to listen as Barrelex explains the mission.

Denkou took her hand casually. He noticed how she seems shy about it. Denkou looked at Cane and saw her watching Nothing. She was blushing. "Interesting.." He looked around and saw that girl who had bumped into him at the graveyard walking beside Saige. "I've... um... heard of those guys..." she said, after Saige had explained to her the situation. Denkou shook his head and looked away. "Girl, just about everyone's heard of them. But unlike you, I've actually looked them in the eye. Idiot. She probably thinks she's all important because she knows a sliver of information. I hate people like that..." He noted in his mind.

Kai perked up at the smell of a dog nearby. He turned his head and saw A black haired girl riding a big dog. "Weird." He heard Lynn say,

"Come on Kai." as she passed a couple holding hands. Kai trotted up to Lynn's side and sniffed the air. The scent of another canine was in the air. He looked over his shoulder and he realized that the smell was coming from the gitl of the couple holding hands. He had prominent ears and a tail. "Oh." He sped up slightly, as Lynn hurried ahead. He watched her dissappear into the bushes, only to reappear with a squirrel in her maw. "Smooth."

Yukirin sighed and dropped her arms. "Okay, so I'm ignored. Then again, should I really be surprised...?" Yuki looked about her, and saw how everyone seemed to have a place in the group. "Why am I here? I only met these people today. No...That's a lie. I haven't even met anyone from here yet. SO why do I have to be dragged along on this 'trip'? What a drag..." Yuki hunchd over and placed her hands on the ground, and with a liquid movement, she transformed into her foxish form. She sat down and looked around some more, trying to figure out why the hell she was here.

[Half-Dragon]

'Boredom knows no bonds'Dragogale was thinking. He was wondering around Triliment city with no thought to what he was doing. He was started to take a path towards the church when a light bathed him, in mid cursing he found himself finishing off his swearing with people around him. He looked around wonder what the hell happened. He knew some of the people while others where strangers. As he scanned he heard Barrelex shouting some orders around, as if he owned us. To his dismay he didnt see Nexus with the rest of the group. He pirked his ears up when he heard "Choatic 3". He remembered rumers of these three when he was in the army. He noticed before the two left that there were lycans heading past the gates. He guessed one was lynn but the other he couldnt quite pin his finger on it. It smelt some what like Kai but he didnt know. He took his mind off the lycans now roaming around and returned his thoughts to what was going on.

Nexus was completly bored. Nobody was around. The bars were boring nothing of interest. He didnt even find anygood looking women either. "Maybe Ill just walk to the gates and by chance find something interesting to do." He grumbled. Nexus just walked slowly towards the gates of Triliment.

Nexus soon arrived at the gates and was wondering why there was a group of people just standing around doing nothing. He looked around till he spotted Dragogale standing around. He ran over and asked,"Whats going on?" "Have you heard of the Chaotic 3 before Nexus?" "Sure why? I know there powerful beings and evil.""Good you know then because one of them has made it into the church I was staying at.""No way! This sucks then."Nexus ended. Dragogale looked down and nodded.Nexus looked over and asked,"What are we doing now then?" Dragogale answered slowly,"A little quest that all. We are supposed to deliver some artifacts to a queen. If you come along you can be payed well.""I like the sound of that. When do we get going?" Nexus pondered."Soon"Dragogale said then looked towards the church.

Lynn was maybe the first one to notice the newly present skeleton rattling infront of her. She blinked, scarfing the squirrel before Kai got any ideas and try and steal it from her. She smirked as she heard giggling behind the gravestone. Lynn thought maybe she could scare whomever lurked behind the stone. She looked at Kai and back to where she was hiding. Lynn trotted over, growling quietly in the pit of her stomach. Slowly building its way up slowly and more menacing as each second ticked by.

The growl was making its way higher and louder, notifying the group behind her. If they were even paying attention. The white bristling hairs on her back stood on end and she bared her teeth, drops of white saliva dropped to the ground as she took slow steady steps towards Chiri. Her amber eyes blazing like fire glowing in the dark. She inched closer. Looming over the stone and looking down at the girl who was playing with her puppet.

She could smell death still rotting off the skeleton. In a flash her teeth were crunching down on the spine and broke through it like it was nothing more then a twig. Pieces of white bone rained down apon her and she stood glaring, half snarling at a high volume.

Cane looked at Denkou and smiled, then picked up a low growling getting louder. She looked back at the white wolf who was snarling and walking towards a puppet skeleton. Cane blinked, and said so everyone could hear, "Umm guys.... That wolf found something...." She muttered. Lynn didnt say anything so she couldnt tell them anything more then her current actions.

[Barrelex]

Barrelex finished his little speech by adding that they were now carrying precious cargo- the mythical sword known as the Legator and a small baseball sized orb wrapped in cloth. "Okay let's go. Lynn, stop snacking and lets go!" He started by moving down the street, holding both items, signalling for everyone to follow. As soon as he turned his back on the road before him, a sickly pale human- a branded homunculus- landed behind him and stretched its arms to grab the orb.
"Thanks for the bonus idiots! Master Ryokhan will pay me greatly for this!" he sneered and removed the cloth touching it with his bare hands. The small orb was an amethyst, and was glowing. Almost instantly, it burst into light and a rip appeared in the night sky- planets were now in perfect view and the stars shown were clearer than the ones seen naturally. Suddenly, the image of dragon, the likes of which Barrelex had never seen before, shimered into view and cried into the fresh air. It suddenly hit him- this dragon was one of the 4 legendary dragons mentioned only in goblin and pankeru myths- this was a dragon of the lost element Neos, the element of space. As quickly as it came, it was replaced by a multitude of meteors, each as powerful looking as the next, striking the homunculus directly where it stood. After the destruction of the being, the orb simply rolled back to the group, only rolling past Barrelex and contining to Dragogale, where it tapped his foot. The rip started to repair itself, and the first words were since the magic appeared came from Barrelex- "Holy shit....."

Kai stepped back from the blinding light that erupted from the orb that Barrelex was carrying. "What the hell is that?!" he barked, before sinking into the shadows that covered the small patch of ground below him. Kai arised from the shadows behind some random person in the group, only to see that the glowing orb was approaching the person in front of him; The half-dragon. "Crap!" Kai spun around and bolted. Whatever the hell that orb was going to do, he didn't want to be a part of it. Kai saw a blast of light illuminate the ground around him, which in turn cast a long shadow. Kai leaped into the air and jumped into the patch of darkness. Kai emerged from the saftey and security of his element, and was now beside Barrelex. "What the hell was that?" he asked him, but then remembered that Barrelex wouldn't be able to answer, considering Barrelex wouldn't be able to understand his chorus of growls and snarls. Wolfy noises . Kai would turn into human at the moment so he could ask Barrelex, however, he didn't fancy appearing naked before another guy. Very suggestive. Very homosexual. Very not Kai's style...

Denkou perked up at the voice of the homunculus. "Thanks for the bonus idiots! Master Ryokhan will pay me greatly for this!" Denkou's attention directed fully to the homunculus. "The idiot!!! What the hell is he doing here?!?!" Denkou's hand slipped out of Cane's grasp, and he took a couple steps forward. "Hey! Don't--" he called out, only to be cut off by a blinding light emerging from the orb. "No! That fool!" he thought angrily before sheilding his eyes with an arm. When the light subsided slightly, he lowered his arm and looked at the now dead homunculus. "He's lucky he's dead..." he thought murderesly, before turning to the one who was now affected by the Orb's power. Denkou held an icy glare on the Half-Dragon, who was now submursed in a bright light. "I wonder if there's a way to extract an elemment..." he thought, already having given up on trying to stop the process. It was far too late now....

Toboe growled from a distance but saw the flash of light through the dense trees. Then he heard Lynn. He growled as she made her meacing way towards Chiri. Toboe swiftly made his way through the trees, twigs snapping under his feet. His cold blue eyes locked with Lynn's ambers orbs. He lept clean over Chiri and the tombstone, jaws opening reaching for Lynn's throat. His jaws clamped shut like an iron trap. A loud clang rang around them. Toboe's eyes full of bloodlust and anger. How dare she attack a child. The monster. Even though he knew full well that he wouldve killed her too but, that was just too cruel. Toboe sent a series of snaps towards Lynn fending her away from Chiri. A snarl dripped from his hungry jaws.

Kalinka stared around the group. Hiding into Zero's redish brown pelt. The shining bright light was to much for her mis-matched orbs. She shut her eyes and Zero whined quietly as it disappeared again. The little girl felt herself being picked up and put on the ground. Then she saw Toboe came from no where and began to attack Lynn. Kalinka shivered, then a small feeble whimper escaped her lips as she heard near Zero's legs.

Lynn snarled at Toboe's sudden attack, she drawed back. Snarling and glaring at the wolf. He missed her throat by millimeters. She snapped at his eye but only got air. Lynn backed away. The bristled hair on her back stood on end as she faced the husky appearance of a wolf.
"WHAT THE HELL?!!?" she snarled. Amber eyes glowing with anger and annoyance. She bared her teeth and her eyes darted to see Zero and that little girl. 'Them...' She thought before redirecting her attention to Toboe.

Cane shut her eyes at the light and opened them again to look at an angry Denkou. She tilted her head in confusion then once again heard more snarling, snapping and growling in Lynn's direction. No one was obviously paying attention. She sighed and got ready to shout.
"HEY IDIOTS!! IF YOU ARE TOO BLIND FROM THAT MEASILY LIGHT THEN THERE IS A NEW WOLF ON THE PREMISES!!!!" Cane shouted, eye twitching as her eyes caught sight of the wolf. A very beautiful coat he had. Icy blue eyes. Uncommon in most wolves. She pointed out to herself. Analyzing every detail on Toboe.

Saige shivered but she was lucky that she had Nexus's coat. " Oh no, Nexus's coat!! I better give this back to him. But he doesn't look cold, maybe later." she thought. Then the light appeared and she watched as the small orb rolled and stopped at Dragogale's feet. She heard Cane's shout and looked around and saw the beautifully coated wolf.

" Axel get on my shoulders." she thought. Axel hearing her thoughts did jump on her shoulder. Saige walked towards where Dragogale and Nexus were standing. She looked at the orb first then glanced at Barrelex, Nexus and at last Dragogale. Softly she spoke to them, " There are new things that are approaching. Barralex?" She looked quickly around again inspecting her surroundings.

Then she looked back at the orb. " What is it?" she asked. She frowned and studied the orb again. Axel jumped off of her shoulder and jumped on Dragogale's shoulder. " Axel, be careful and don't you dare touch that orb." she thought. " I sense great power coming out of it." Axel said. " Eh?" she thought. " They are concentrated on the orb that they are forgetting the surroundings. I think Cane is getting annoyed." she thought.

Raven watched as Saige walked towards Barrelex, Nexus and Dragogale. She stayed in place. She had seen the brief flash of bright light through Lexis's thick fur. She was almost asleep when she heard Saige move. Raven sat up and looked around her and found Adrian. " Lexis? Did anything happen while I was zoning out?" she asked.

" Yeah, quite a few actually." Lexis replied. " But I didn't catch all of it. I was still coming out of my sleep. I saw the leader kill a thing and the orb light up really bright. The girl over there says that there is a new wolf on the premises. Over there you see?" Lexis added. But Raven didn't see anything. Unlike Saige her vision at night really sucked as was told earlier. " No," was her reply.

Her vision at daylight time is the best only during those times. Although her memory is brillant. She sighed slightly. " I wonder when we get to go and travel? I can't wait!! It's going to be great I think." Lexis said her voice full of excitment. Raven smiled slightly at what she said.

Adrian had shielded his eyes when the bright light appeared. He saw Barralex attack the thing and then.... he saw the orb roll to Dragogale's feet. He watched as Saige left them with the cat and walked over to Nexus, Dragogale and Barralex. He studied the orb and remembered reading something about it. But he wasn't sure if it was really the thing. " Nah, wrong one I think. Yeah, I'm sure its the wrong one." he thought.

Taylin stares at the light thoughtfully, one of her daggers hidden in her hand. With a low whistle she slips the blade back into her bracer and takes a step toward the remains of the homunculus. She releases another whistle and prods a bit of flesh with her toe. "Damn. That alone makes this whole thing worth it. Probably won't get a chance to see something like that in a long while." She throws a glance over her shoulder at the orb resting at Dragogale's feet. A small smile flits across her lips and she pushes her hood back to get a better look at the orb. "Or we'll see it sooner than we'd like." She turns back to the remains and pretends to study them intently, ignoring the arrival of this new wolf. She firgured that the other two wolves alone would be able to handle any trouble caused by this new one.

Lovisa ambles through the city and eventually reaches her favourite inn where she usually stayed while she was in Triliment. She kicks open the door, causing it top slam against the wall beside it. A few of the people sitting it the common room look up at her entrance. Most of the regular patrons shake their heads and return to what they were doing. She was well known at this particular inn and most of her antics were ignored. As her eyes sweep across the room she spots a thin man in a heavy black robe, his face completely covered by the cowl. The thin man was taring at her intently as she stalked across the room to her standard table beside the kitchen. She leans her axe against one of the chairs and flops into it, gesturing to the barmaid for an ale. As she turns back to the table she jumps slightly, her hand flying to the sword grip jutting over her shoulder. The thin man was seated directly across from her, his head bowed and his hands folded in his lap. Lovisa relaxes her grip on the sword and stares at the man the icy cold stare that earned her her name. "Can I help you, little man? If not than leave quickly. Your presence is starting to bother me." The man raises one arm and places a scroll on the table, revealing an exceedingly pale hand in the process. "My masters wish to offer you a job. One that they believe you will enjoy. The details are in this scroll." He slides the scroll closer to Lovisa. She scoops it up and reads it rapidly a small smile creeping across her face as she does. "My masters would also like my to inform you that the reward for this will be most to your liking. Their exact words were that 'she will find the answers that she has been searching for.' It made little sense to me, but they assured me you would know what they spoke of. Now if you will excuse me, I will take my leave." The man stood and not so much walked off as vanished. Lovisa who had gone pale, continues to stare at the place the man had sat in complete awe. If what the strange little man had said was true, she was nearing the end of her quest and she would soon find her father's killer. With a sigh she rises to her feet and grabs her axe. Her ale would have to wait. While she hated having to act like an assassin, she would if required. She walks out into the street and looks up at the sky, just in time to see a dazzling flash of light and the shape of a dragon appear in the sky. She was guessing that her new targets had something to do with this, especially as they possessed an item that the scroll said was capable of doing something like this. She hefts her axe onto her shoulder and breaks into a run, headed towards the church and the group that would be found there.
